day 7

When I was in the airport getting on my flight, I saw a man that was advertising for a foundation called the Venezuelan Huntington Foundation. So I decided that because Venezuela gave me an fantastic adventure to I would give to their Project. Here is all the info.

day 6

Today I went to Los Llanos these grassy wetlands are Venezuela's prime wildlife-watching territory, teeming with giant anacondas, birds and caimans. The sound of the animals was amazing, from the top of the jeep (witch I was taking a tour on) you could see for miles and miles. My driver, Gabriel was a very interesting person. He took care of the park and protected the animals form getting hunted. He had black dreadlocks and a tye-dye headband. He image will stay with me forever.

Day 5

Today I asked the cook if he would teach me a Venezuelan recipe to being home to America. He happily showed me how to make Platanos Fritos. Here is the recipe.
Ingredients

2 plantains, yellow with some black spots
1 tablespoon canola oil
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

Directions
1Peel plantains; cut each into thirds crosswise. Cut each piece into 4 (2-inch) lengthwise slices.
2Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add plantains to pan; cook 3 minutes on each side or until lightly browned. Transfer plantains to a plate; sprinkle with salt.

Even though the plantains looked slightly like bananas they tasted more like ginger. They were an extravagant meal.

Day 4

Today took a taxi to Coro a coastal town that was built over 500 years ago!  Just by the look of a city hall (picture) you could tell.  The fully modernized fishing boat look so different compared to the "Old Town" setting of the city.  I saw that they had a tour of one of the old fishing boats so I went to go check it out.  It was amazing with beds for more that 7 sailors and some type of running water system.  When I held the rope that was attached to the mast I could almost feel the sweet of the sailors that took this ship though the Caribbean. That touch of the rope is something that will stay with me forever.

Day3

Today I took a boat down the main river leading into the amazons. The boat stopped so that we could explore around and I found a small village of natives. I met a young boy named Shike who was caring for his dying grandmother. He asked me if I could go get some fish for him and his grandmother. The village had some sort of contraption that you stood on to fish and after 30 longs minutes I had 5 fish in my basket. Farther up the river I saw them throw a dead dog in the river and watch the Paranas devour it. I was the most gruesome sight I had ever seen. Shike's grandmother died right as I walked away from the tent and back to my hotel. The smell of the fish and the smoke from the huts will be with me forever.

Day 2

Today I travel by boat to Angel Falls they were the most amazing body of water I have ever seen.  With an huge drop of more than 800 meters.  I couldn't believe the amount of noise the water made when it hit the ground.  I could hear it form more than 1 miles away.  On the drive there I saw many small villages that I could not wait to learn more about tomorrow.  I saw many young boys running on the banks of the river.  Well its getting late so I should get ready for tomorrow.

Day 1

Today I to Caracas Venezuela. On the plane could see all the amazing country and that I could not wait to spend a week in. When I got there I noticed all the tan, dark-haired people. My hotel was fantastic. Since this is my last trip of the year I rented a villa it was huge I felt like it was a waste of space because it could hold one of the many homeless family's on the streets of Caracas. The sight out my hotel window was extravagant. You could see all the favelas and skyscrapers.

Tomorrow I will be able to see Angel Falls.
